School violence represents one of the most significant challenges facing the educational system due to its negative impacts on the learning environment, academic achievement, and social relationships within educational institutions. In this context, the Ministry of National Education has established institutional mechanisms such as listening and mediation cells, vigilance cells, and social support staff, aiming to prevent violence and intervene early to address it.
This study aims to examine the role of these cells and mechanisms in reducing manifestations of school violence through a field study conducted on a sample of educational institutions under the Regional Academy of Education and Training of the Eastern Region. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, supported by quantitative tools (questionnaires) and qualitative tools (interviews and field observations), to monitor the levels of activation of these cells and evaluate their effectiveness from the perspective of students, educational staff, and administrators, while identifying the main challenges they face.
The results indicate that these cells contribute to fostering a culture of dialogue and mediation within institutions and reducing certain manifestations of violence. However, their effectiveness remains limited due to weak continuous training, insufficient material and human resources, and low engagement of some stakeholders. The study concludes with a set of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening these mechanisms through staff training, providing logistical support, and establishing partnerships with families and civil society, thereby enhancing the school’s role in violence prevention and promoting a safe educational environment.
