يعد صلاح الدين من الشخصيات البارزة في تاريخ العرب، حيث استطاع أن يجمع الأمة العربية تحت قيادته من أجل الزود عن الأمة العربية من الغزو الصليبي الغاشم، والعمل على تحرير الأرض العربية المحتلة، وقد شهد المؤرخون والمعاصرون العرب والغرب على بطولاته، وعدله، وحسن معاملة خصومه؛ فكان رمزا لحقبة من أحفل حقب التاريخ بالجهاد والكفاح؛ فما يزال اسم صلاح الدين باقياً حتى اليوم، ونموذجا لكل حاكم عربي.
