مستخلص:إذا كان الغرب أحدثوا منعرجا لسانيا حمل لوائه دي سوسير، فإن المنعرج اللساني العربي الحديث حمل لوائه تمام حسان، إذ يعد أول من وقف على أوليات الدرس اللغوي القديم، وأولويات الدرس اللغوي الغربي الحديث، كما يعد أول من لملم شتات التراث اللغوي، وصنف معاييره بين الصالح والطالح، وما نقوله نحن في هذا الصدد نفس ما قاله أحد تلامذته: “ولولا طبيعة الزمان وأن المعاصرة حجاب لبويع تمام حسان أميرا ومجددا للنحو العربي وللدراسات اللغوية الحديثة في عالمنا العربي” ، وكان اختيارنا لهذا الرجل دون غيره، لنرقع تلك الحلقة المفقودة بين العرب القدامى، والغرب المحدثين، فبين هذا وذاك فراغ ملأه علماء اللغة الذين تميزوا بتفكيرهم المخضرم بين العرب والغرب، فما لاحظناه بعد قراءتنا لكتب تمام حسان استخلصنا أن الرجل وقف وقفة انتقاد للتراث ووقفة إجلال للوارد الغربي، وهذا ما سنقف عنده فيما هو آت، وتركيزنا سيكون على الدرس الوظيفي الذي قدمه في وصف العربية، فمن يكون؟ وبأي منهج جاء؟ وما هي أهم الأسس التي مهدت لانطلاقته اللغوية؟ أي فكر لغوي ووظيفي أفاد به عربيته؟ كل هذه الأسئلة وغيرها سيجيب عنها البحث وفق المنهج الوصفي التحليلي.

If the West created a linguistic turning point that was carried by Saussure, then the modern Arabic linguistic turning point was carried by Tamam Hassan, as he is considered the first to stand on the mechanisms of ancient linguistic study and the priorities of modern Western linguistic study. He is also considered the first to gather the fragments of linguistic heritage and classify its criteria between good and bad. What we say in this regard is the same as what one of his students said: “Had it not been for the nature of time and that contemporaneity is a veil, Tamam Hassan would have been pledged allegiance to as the prince and innovator of Arabic grammar and modern linguistic studies in our Arab world.” Our choice of this man over others was to patch up that missing link between the ancient Arabs and the modern West. Between this and that, there is a gap that was filled by linguists who were distinguished by their seasoned thinking between the Arabs and the West. What we noticed after reading Tamam Hassan’s books is that the man took a critical stance towards heritage and a reverent stance towards Western imports. This is what we will stand on in what is to come, and our focus will be on the functional lesson that this man presented in describing Arabic. Who is this man? What approach did he adopt? What are the most important foundations that paved the way for his linguistic launch? What linguistic and functional thought did he use to benefit his Arabic? All these questions and others will be answered by the research according to the descriptive and analytical approach.
