مستخلص:أدى التطور العلمي الذي عرفته البشرية إلى دراسة جميع الميادين، ولما كان الغذاء أهم العناصر الأساسية لحياة الإنسان فقد جلب اهتمام الباحثين والاختصاصيين سيما كيفية توفير الغذاء للبشرية بكميات كافية ومناسبة، هذا أدى بالباحثين إلى الاهتمام بكيفية الرفع من المردودية الإنتاجية للمحاصيل الزراعية, وتمكنوا من التوصل إلى إيجاد بذور جديدة عن طريق التعديل الجيني أو ما يطلق عليها ” البذور المحسنة جينيا”، وعن طريق التقنية الحيوية (biotechnology)تمكن الكثير من المزارعين من زيادة إنتاجهم وكذا زيادة مدة حياة المنتج، لكن تطبيق هذه التقنية في الميدان الزراعي أدى الى جدل كبير بين المختصين بين معارض ومؤيد, حيث يرى المعارضون ان المنتجات الغذائية المعدلة تسبب اضرارا للبشر والبيئة في ان واحد, ما يعرض الصحة العامة للخطر, بينما يرى المؤيدون لهذه التقنية بانه بإمكانها الرفع من حجم الإنتاج وبالتالي إمكانية توفير الغذاء بشكل كافي ومناسب للبشرية .وبين هذا وذاك يبقى دور الحكومات أساسي للعمل على مراقبة مدى تأثير هذه المنتجات على الصحة العامة لبلدانها.

The scientific development of humanity has led to the study of all fields, and since food is the most important element of human life, it has brought the attention of researchers and specialists, particularly how to provide food to humanity in sufficient and appropriate quantities, which has led researchers to pay attention to how to increase the productivity of agricultural crops , and they were able to find new seeds through genetic modification or so-called “genetically improved seeds”, and through biotechnology. Many farmers have been able to increase their production as well as increase the life span of the product, but the application of this technique in the agricultural field has led to a great controversy between specialists between opponents and supporters, where opponents believe that modified food products cause harm to humans and the environment in one, which endangers public health, while supporters of this technique believe that it can increase the volume of production and thus the possibility of providing food adequately and making it suitable for humanity. Between this and that, the role of Governments remains essential to monitor the impact of these products on the public health of their countries.
